Terms of use

The short version: play fair, keep your account to yourself, and I will keep ch1 running and improving. The details are below.

Who I am

ch1 (chordhouse.app) is made and run by me, Jenson Cherian, a musician and teacher based in the United Arab Emirates. In these terms "I" and "me" means me, the maker of ch1, and "you" means anyone who uses ch1. Questions: info@chordhouse.app.

Using ch1

• ch1 runs in your web browser. You need a reasonably recent browser and device; Chrome or Edge is needed for MIDI keyboards.
• Free features are free to use for personal practice, teaching and performance.
• Don't try to break, copy, resell or reverse-engineer ch1, get around its locks, or overload its servers.
• The music you play and record with ch1 is yours.

Your account

• Sign in with your own email. Keep your password and sign-in codes private.
• A membership is for one person. It works on up to 3 devices at the same time.
• If you are under 18, please use ch1 with a parent or guardian's permission. Purchases must be made by an adult.
• I may suspend an account that breaks these terms, for example a shared or resold membership.

Paid memberships

• Prices are shown on the pricing page before you pay.
• Pro, Ultra, Max and the ch1 Learn add-on are subscriptions. They are billed monthly or yearly, as you choose, and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time from Manage membership on your ch1 profile. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
• ch1 Learn is an add-on you can take on any plan, Free included. It is included in Max, so it stops costing extra if you move to Max.
• Founding member is Ultra at a lower price for a limited number of members. That price stays locked for as long as the membership stays active. If you cancel and later return, the current price applies.
• If a payment fails, Paddle will try again for a short while. If it still can't be taken, the plan ends and the free features stay yours.
• If I change the price of a plan, I will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
• Your membership is linked to the email you pay with. It unlocks as soon as the payment is confirmed.

My order process is run by my online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all ch1 orders: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues your receipt. Paddle provides all customer service for orders and handles returns. You can also email me at info@chordhouse.app about anything.

When you buy, you also accept Paddle's buyer terms.

Refunds

You can have a full refund within 14 days of starting a plan. See the refund policy.

Changes and availability

• I keep improving ch1, so features, looks and sounds change over time. I won't take away what a paid membership includes without offering something fair in return.
• I aim to keep ch1 available at all times, but it may sometimes be down for updates or problems outside my control.
• If I ever stop offering ch1, I will give members at least 30 days' notice by email.
• If these terms change in a way that matters, I will say so on this page and, for members, by email.

Liability

ch1 is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, I am not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost recordings or lost work, and my total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid me in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, where I am based. Nothing in them takes away the consumer protections you have where you live. Purchases are also covered by Paddle's buyer terms.
