ch1 Privacy
Privacy policy
ch1 keeps as little about you as it can: enough to sign you in, keep your setup, and make ch1 better. It never sells your data or shows ads.

Who looks after your data
Jenson Cherian (JC), the maker of ch1 (chordhouse.app), based in the United Arab Emirates. Contact: info@chordhouse.app.
What ch1 keeps
- Your account: your email, the name you give, and your password (held by Google Firebase; I never see it).
- Your membership: your plan and any add-on, monthly or yearly, when it started and renews, and your order and subscription references.
- Your setup: sounds, theme, key light and similar settings, so they follow you to other devices.
- ch1 Learn: if you use it, your lessons, stars, streaks and minutes, and the short profile it asks for (instrument, level, goal).
- How ch1 is used: pages opened, minutes played, which features and chords are used, device type, country from your time zone, and a random device ID kept on your device. This helps me fix problems and decide what to build.
- Feedback you choose to send.
What stays on your device
Your recordings and Takes, your camera and microphone, and the music you play stay on your device unless you choose to save or share them. Camera and microphone are only used when you switch them on.
Payments
Payments are handled by Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for ch1 orders. Paddle collects your card details and billing address under its own privacy policy. I never see or store your card details; I only receive your email, what you bought, and the order reference.
Who helps run ch1
| Google Cloud and Firebase | Accounts and sign-in, the database, the backend, and Play together. Stored in the EU (Belgium and the Netherlands). |
|---|---|
| Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise | App Check: shows that requests come from chordhouse.app, not a script. No puzzles. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Visit and feature statistics. A signed-in player is counted by an account ID, never their email. Advertising features are off. |
| Microsoft Clarity | On the ch1 page only: records how the page is used (clicks, taps, scrolling) so I can see where things go wrong. |
| Google Apps Script and Google Sheets | A page-view count from every page (a random device ID and the page, no cookies), and my private working copy of usage numbers and account lists. |
| Hostinger | Hosts the website and sends ch1's emails (sign-in codes, receipts, invites) from info@chordhouse.app. |
| Paddle | Payments, receipts and tax for plans and ch1 Learn. |
| Ziina | Only if I send you a direct payment link. Ziina takes that payment under its own policy. |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Only when you ask for AI chord ideas: it receives the chord names you played, a style and a level. Nothing about you. |
| YouTube | Only when you open a song in Song: the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player. |
| Pixabay and Pexels | Only in Make a video: my server sends the words you search for, and the clips you pick load from their sites. |
| Google Fonts | Loads the Inter font for these pages. |
Where your data is processed
Your account, membership, setup and progress are stored by Google Cloud in the EU. Some services above are run from the United States and may process data there, including Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Google Sheets and Anthropic.
Emails
ch1 emails you sign-in codes, receipts and important account news. If I ever send news about ch1, you can turn it off from any of those emails.
How long it's kept
Your account data is kept while you have an account. Usage statistics are kept in summary form. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Your choices
Email info@chordhouse.app to see what ch1 keeps about you, correct it, or have your account and data deleted. I reply within 30 days.
Children
ch1 is used by music students of all ages. Children under 18 should use ch1 with a parent or guardian's permission, and only an adult can buy a membership. Schools using ch1 Club: see ch1 Club data and privacy.
